built pippa at ivy hacks 2025 (3rd place) with Justin Moran and Arjun Patel and we had a 90% finished app to help people recovering from eating disorders. it started as this idea where you take photos of your meals to "feed" a virtual pet named pippa, turning something that can feel really hard into something that feels like caring for a friend. spent thanksgiving break taking it to a 100% finished app.
pippa's mood changes based on your progress throughout the day: stay on track and they're happy, fall behind and they get a little sad. pippa’s basically a tamagotchi that actually matters. we built it with react native because we wanted it to work on both ios and android, and expo made the whole process way less painful than i expected.
if you're curious about recovery-focused tech, check it out. it's called pippa.
