AI, vibecoding, and modern tools make it insanely fast to build something usable, so if it’s taking way longer, you’re either not motivated enough or you’re choosing comfort over execution. Early on, the goal isn’t perfect code: it’s real feedback.

Yes, real technical depth matters later for scaling, security, and reliability. But validation is a different phase, and even with classes and everything else going on, a focused week is usually enough to get something live.

I see this a lot with Iowa State students trying to build in tech, especially in CS and SWE majors. People sit on ideas for months waiting for the “right time” or a perfect plan that never comes. Start messy, ship something small, and let reality teach you what actually matters.
