It’s crazy to think I’m in the era of software engineering where you ask AI to solve your SWE questions.
My dad lived in the era where he’d hop on Yahoo forums in the early 2000s to figure things out.
My uncles and aunts (yes, I come from a big family of SWEs) were in the Stack Overflow era.
So I decided to go back to the basics and post a real question on Stack Overflow (RIP Yahoo forums) for the first time ever.
Lowkey, if you’ve got experience in this space, I’d appreciate any thoughts on the thread and maybe even a follow (still figuring out how Stack Overflow works… pretty sure you can’t actually follow people there 😭).
I really hope Stack Overflow doesn’t die down. There’s been a decrease in the number of questions asked and answered, and those Q&As are part of what helped make today’s coding AI models so powerful in the first place.
Spaces where developers openly share problems, solutions, and lessons learned are what push the whole field forward.
So yeah… #BringBackStackOverflow
