its been a pleasure serving as the first president of the ISU Algorithmic Trading Club ever since its refounding last semester.
Arjun and i restarted the club because we were building our own trading algorithms freshman and sophomore year, but wanted to build a community of like-minded algorithmic traders, educate more iowa state students on algo trading....
.....and hopefully attract recruiter attention. while we didn’t quite reach that last goal, I truly believe the club’s future is strong (looking at you, chicago quant firms, and the hundreds of emails and calls we sent out).
i am looking forward to the future of the club. we really had a lot of highs and lows building it and getting it out there. members are now building their own successful algorithms, having meaningful discussions, and learning a lot!
the club just elected a new executive board, and I’ve seen these individuals grow over the past year. there’s no telling what they’ll achieve.
i give it five years for this club to become one of the biggest quant and algorithmic trading clubs in the country.
